BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONE

Meet your Creative Genie.

Arts Grants Are Hard
Hi — I’m Andrea.
If you’re here, chances are you’ve got something creative you care deeply about.
An idea you want to bring to life.
A project you keep coming back to.
A sense that there’s more you could be doing with your creative work… if only the path felt clearer.
And maybe you’ve found yourself thinking:
“Where do I even start?”
“Am I doing this right?”
“Why does the business side feel so hard?”
You’re not the only one.

I’ve seen this again and again.

Over the past 30+ years working in the creative industries, I’ve worked with hundreds (probably thousands) of artists.
Musicians. Writers. Performers. Visual artists.
Emerging creatives and established professionals.
And no matter how talented they are, the same challenges keep showing up:

  • Not knowing how to turn ideas into something structured
  • Feeling overwhelmed by the business side
  • Struggling to build consistent income
Getting stuck, losing momentum, or second-guessing themselves

Not because they’re not capable —
but because they’ve never been properly supported in this part of the journey.

Andrea Smith

That’s where I come in.

I help creatives take what’s in their head — the ideas, the passion, the “what if” — and turn it into something clear, grounded, and achievable.
Not by forcing you into a formula.
Not by drowning you in jargon.
But by meeting you where you are, and helping you take the next step.
Then the next.
Then the next.

What working with me feels like.

It’s not overwhelming.
It’s not rigid.
And it’s definitely not one-size-fits-all. It’s practical, supportive, and tailored to you.

I help you:

  • Make sense of the business side of being creative
  • Find direction when everything feels a bit scattered
  • Build structure around your ideas
  • Create pathways to income that actually fit your work
  • Move forward without second-guessing every decision

Most importantly — I help you get unstuck.

Why this matters to me.

I’ve spent my entire career inside the creative industries — managing venues, teaching, mentoring, producing, writing grants, and supporting artists.
And what I’ve seen, over and over, is this:
Incredible creatives giving up —
not because they weren’t talented enough,
but because the system around them made things harder than they needed to be.
I don’t think it should be that way.
I believe creatives deserve support that actually helps.
Clarity instead of confusion.
Guidance instead of guesswork.
That’s why Applause Genie exists.

The ways I support you.

Depending on what you need, I offer:

  • Arts Grants Made Easy:
If you’re trying to get a project funded but don’t want to navigate the process alone.
  • Standing Ovation Strategy Sessions:
If you want guidance, structure, and someone in your corner as you build your creative career.
  • Music Launch Kits:
If you prefer to work at your own pace but need clear, practical direction.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You don’t need a perfect plan.
You don’t need to know all the answers.
You just need a starting point —
and someone who understands how to help you move forward.

Let’s take the next step together
If you’re ready to get unstuck, find direction, and build real momentum in your creative work, I’d love to support you.
